Georg Fischer's type 578 butterfly valve offers a lug style body, with double eccentric valve principal, a variety of wetted materials, and a comprehensive actuation package. This versatile plastic valve is offered in PVC, CPVC, ABS, PP and PVDF bodies with EPDM and FPM seals standard (other seals available upon request). Sizes range from 2" to 12" with a pressure rating of up to 150 psi.
The 578 valve has an off-center disc and shaft that disengages the disc from the body during operation. Since the disc is not in contact with the disc seal when opening and closing, there is significantly less wear on the valve parts. Another result of the double-eccentric design is reduced torque.
